A Week's Menus

Each crewmember has a day on cooking and kitchen duty; others may add comments.

Day 1: Cook on duty	BLAKE

Breakfast cornflakes and milk toast and marmalade tea	Here, I'm a vegetarian, you know! Vila Ah. It was meat and 4 veg then. Blake never could count. Avon I agree with Vila. There should be a meat alternative at each meal. Cally Good honest food. Jenna But not enough of it. Gan
Lunch corned beef sandwiches ham sandwiches real ale (one glass each, Vila)
Dinner meat and 3 veg boiled rice pudding coffee

Day 2: Cook on duty	VILA

Breakfast choice of: curried eggs on toast soft-boiled eggs with toast troopers for dipping tea, coffee, or A&S	Lucky for you that really was a dessert. Jenna You amaze me, Vila. Every now and then you show some taste. That Muscat was very nice and ... mine, you thieving bastard! Avon Great vinders and the rest was good fodder. Didn't like that sticky drink though. Gan Very nice, Vila, especially those little balls. Cally Not bad. A bit exotic but I liked it anyway. Blake
Lunch veggie pizzas: Hawaiian (with pineapple) or not (no pineapple) cheese and onion toasted sandwiches tea, coffee, or A&S
Dinner starter: falafels, hummus, and salad in pita bread with A&S aperitif main: veggie vindaloo and rice with lager afters: jam roly-poly and cream with a botrytised late-harvest Muscat hot chocolate

Day 3: Cook on duty	AVON

Breakfast hot croissants with butter cafe au lait	There could have been a bit more of it. Gan Are you trying to kill us with hardening of the arteries so you can take the Liberator? Jenna I'm a man of plain tastes. Isn't one sauce enough? Blake Yum-yum but I wasn't very well afterwards and couldn't stand watch. Hmm. Same again next week by any chance? Vila Very nice. Do you have any more of that chocolate? Cally
Lunch cucumber or watercress sandwiches baguettes with tapenade, pate de foie gras, or tartufata ship red (why cast pearls before swine?)
Dinner appetiser: gazpacho with a swirl of sour cream main: lobster thermidor or a soy protein drink scalloped potatoes carrots sautéed in butter and ginger beans in a hollandaise sauce broccoli in a béarnaise sauce aubergine in a provencale sauce ship white dessert: macadamia and maple ice-cream with Lindor chocolate sauce espresso coffee

Day 4: Cook on duty	JENNA

Breakfast kippers rice bubbles and milk toast and honey English breakfast tea	I believe you are meant to boil the peas. Avon Well done! Blake Oh, those poor little things. Cally That stuck to me ribs. Gan Was that an insult? Vila
Lunch bacon and egg pie apple pie bread and butter lashings of ginger beer
Dinner salted peanuts for Vila roast beef with gravy roast potatoes roast parsnips roast carrots roast peas bread and butter pudding

Day 5: Cook on duty	CALLY

Breakfast whole-grain organic muesli with sunflower seeds and wheat germ soy milk mineral water freshly-squeezed fruit juice	That sounded disgusting and was delicious! Vila What he said. Gan You hypocrite, Cally. I've seen what you eat other days. And how much for that matter. Avon We need to stay healthy for the cause, Avon. Well done, Cally. Lunch vegetable soup with tofu rye bread with nut butters fresh green salad fresh fruit mineral water
Dinner lentil casserole vegetable medley rolled oats apple crumble carrot and apple juice cocktails

Day 6: Cook on duty	GAN
Menu	Comments
Breakfast sausages, baked beans, eggs toast tea	A man after my own heart! Blake Quantity and quality appear to be mutually exclusive in this case. Avon Cheers mate, but for variety could you whack a little curry powder or chilli in the beans next time? Vila I've said this before, Gan. Not beans at every meal, esp not with beer. Now I suppose Cally and I will have to put up with yet another profoundly unfunny competition on the flight deck. Men! Jenna Very nice, particularly the peas. A most unusual treatment. Cally
Lunch bread, butter cheese, ham, baked beans, jam, peanut butter pot noodles tea
Dinner baked beans fish (beer batter) and chips mushy peas beer tea And lots of everything!

Day 7: Cook on duty	NONE
Menu	Comments
A day of rest (from cooking anyway, please note, Vila). Serve yourself leftovers from the week from the fridge and stasis chamber and do clean up after yourselves (please note, Avon). Blake P.S. No fry-ups during space battles. I shouldn't have to tell you this. B.	Bags the vinders. Gan Too late. Sorry. Cally All right. I know there was over a litre of ice-cream left. Own up, Vila. Avon Sorry, it was me. Is there any chocolate? Cally Mmmm, cold chip butties and pizza! Yum-yum! Anyone know where the leftover baked beans are? I felt like whacking up a really hot chilli sin carne. Vila It was not me this time. But if you find them, I should like to try that dish. Cally There's plenty in the store. Gan I shall be doing regularly scheduled space suit and emergency respirator testing for the next 24 hours. Jenna
